The FIRST Global Challenge Olympics is a worldwide robotics Olympics, in this year it was organized for the first time with the intention of organizing it every year in a different capital of the country. The Polish national team for this Olympics was created by the members and mentors of our team..
Each year the Olympics will concern a different and pressing global problem. First edition was about the lack of clean water in the world.
The robots were driving into the river simulation, gathering colorful balls, segregated them, were put into special containers and put themselves up on a special bar. For each element, points were calculated from, which the ranking was arranged.
All teams received the same set of parts, rules of the game and dimensions of the arena and all its elements two months before the competition. the only restriction in robot construction is the number of components and the dimensions of the robot. The rest depended only on the imagination and skills of the team members.
The competition lasted 3 days (15-17 July 2017). In the beginning teams played the test matches, in sunday July 16th the grand opening ceremony took place and the next two days were devoted to the competition matches and the closing ceremony and decoration of the best teams. The referees already during the test matches gave the robot the name Polish Monster, which was very accurate, because the machine directly played out the opponents.
Despite losing in the first match, in the next games the team did not give a chance to compete! Until the very end she fought and eventually took 2nd place out of 157 representations of countries and 6 representations of continents.
